Story Summary

THE STORY IN BRIEF

Kel Franklin from Mount Gambier, South Australia, is one of Australia's most remarkable stories of survival. In 2023, she was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer — undergoing a full right mastectomy, radiation, and chemotherapy while simultaneously enduring eight years of extreme domestic violence. The bruises in her photographs are real. They are evidence.

In 2025, before she had finished fighting breast cancer, Kel was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She woke up in ICU with tubes and monitors, half her pancreas and her spleen removed, wondering how much more one person could take. She survived that too.

In May 2026, Kel will stand in court and tell her story of domestic violence for the first time. She walked away from her abuser. She stood up. And she is still standing.

Through every surgery, every chemo session, every hospital corridor — Kimmy was there. Her best friend, her carer, her reason for surviving. The INHERCORNER247 campaign is their story: survival, sisterhood, loyalty, and truth. Kel is not just fighting cancer. She is fighting for justice. And she is fighting for a future.

Interview Talking Points

SURVIVING THE UNSURVIVABLE

Two separate cancers — breast and pancreatic — diagnosed within two years. Both life-threatening. Both survived.

THE DOUBLE BATTLE

Kel fought cancer while living through extreme domestic violence. She never told anyone. The bruises in her photos are real evidence.

KIMMY'S STORY

A best friend who showed up every single time — chemo days, surgery mornings, ICU corridors. What does it mean to truly be in someone's corner?

SPEAKING UP IN COURT

After 8 years of silence, Kel will tell her story in court in May 2026. What does it take to finally speak?

THE CAMPAIGN

INHERCORNER247 is not just a fundraiser. It is a movement about survival, sisterhood, and refusing to be silenced.

A MESSAGE TO OTHER WOMEN

Kel's story is for every woman who has ever fought alone. You don't have to. Not when someone is in your corner.
